Born in Toledo, Ohio on Dec. 1, 1957, Dr. Greg Davis spent his
formative years in the southeast corner of the state of Michigan. His
father, Roy Davis drove 18-wheelers for the Maumee, Ohio based "Foodtown"
grocery stores, while his mother, Margaret was a Registered Nurse and
nursing instructor at the Toledo Hospital. Greg and his two brothers
attended Bedford High School, a district noted as the wrestling
powerhouse of Michigan. Often a "road less traveled" kind of guy, Dr.
Davis hated wrestling and played baseball instead.
Graduating in 1975, Greg was off to East Lansing and the campus of
Michigan State University where he majored in Microbiology
(yes….Microbiology). In 1979 Greg headed south to Ann Arbor and the
University of Michigan School of Dentistry. (For the sports nuts in the
crowd, Dr. Davis is a Michigan State Spartan fan through and through.
Seldom does he utter the words "Go Blue". OK, maybe when the Wolverines
play the Buckeyes you might here him shout out an occasional “Go Blue”.)
In 1980 one of those important, life-bolstering events happened
when Greg married his Michigan State Univ. sweetheart, Lynn
Spencer-Davis. The ceremony was conducted in Lynn's hometown of
Kalamazoo. Yep, Dr. Davis is that guy often heard whistling that old
classic "I Got a Girl From Kalamazoo".
When Greg graduated from dental school in 1983 things were not
going well in the state of Michigan. People were buying more Hondas and
Toyotas than Fords and Chevys. Michigan's number one export had become
people and the young Davis family was part of that exodus, moving to the
Landen/Maineville area in August of 1983.
Dr. Davis' first dental office was a small 1200 square foot
facility in the Landen Square Shopping center where he and his wife and
newly born son, Ryan formed a true family dental team.
Things change. By 1990 practice growth forced a move to a new 1600
square foot facility on Irwin-Simpson Rd. and ultimately to their new
and current 3000 square foot facility in October of 2001 (see the
"Facilities" page).
Lynn, Dr. Davis' wife, joined the educational team at Sycamore
High School in August of 2002, where she works as a Special Education
Curriculum Coordinator. Ryan, the Davis’ son, graduated as
Salutatorian of his 2002 Mason High School class, attended Georgetown
University in Washington, D.C. and begins medical school in the spring
of 2006. In addition to his academic pursuits Ryan is an art and
photography nut. Jordan, the Davis’ daughter, graduated from Kings
High School in May of 2005. She has joined the ranks of the Wittenberg
Tigers in Springfield, Ohio where she is majoring in English. For
Jordan life can pretty much be summarized in a handful of words; family,
friends, school, dance, theater and cats.
